About ChainRecon

ChainRecon Consulting helps organizations investigate digital asset activity, manage financial crime risk, and solve difficult blockchain data problems.

We work with financial institutions, digital asset businesses, law firms, and other teams that need to understand what happened on-chain and what to do next. Our work spans BSA/AML compliance, sanctions, complex investigations, training, and technical analysis.

Our Difference

Built by operators with firsthand experience investigating and analyzing some of the largest cryptocurrency cases.

Investigations

Investigations Led Thinking

We work on complex, often multi-year investigations involving money laundering networks, stolen funds, smart contract exploits, and corporate matters. We trace activity across bridges, mixers, and off-ramps using both on-chain and off-chain data. Our team has experience with multiple leading blockchain analytics platforms, but we also examine the underlying transactions and protocol mechanics directly. This lets us test a tool’s conclusions and pursue leads it may not show. When a case calls for more, we build our own tools and analyses to supplement the platforms we use.

Compliance

Compliance grounded in real cases

We have seen how illicit activity appears in actual investigations. We use that experience to help clients design monitoring rules, improve review procedures, train analysts, and make better-supported decisions about crypto risk. As illicit activity evolves, we bring emerging patterns into those controls and workflows.

Engineering

Technical depth when it counts

When standard tools cannot answer a question, we examine blockchain data, smart contract code, and protocol behavior directly. We build the analyses and tools needed to understand what happened and support the findings.

How We Work

We start with the question you need answered, work through the evidence, and turn our findings into a clear next step.

01 - Define the question

We learn what decision you need to make, what information you already have, and where the uncertainty lies. That gives the work a clear scope from the outset.

02 - Examine the evidence

We trace activity, review the relevant data and documents, and test the assumptions behind an initial explanation. We distinguish what the evidence establishes from what still needs investigation.

03 - Make the findings useful

We deliver clear conclusions and practical next steps, whether the result is an investigative report, a better monitoring rule, a review procedure, or training for your team.
